Guide to Canggu, Bali

travisguides's avatarPosted by

Ten years ago, Canggu was a sleepy beach village permeated with yoga schools, surf camps and rustic cafes, but it’s certainly grown up since then is now a firm preference for those wanting to experience a slightly slower, though just as alluring locale to its well-established neighbour, Seminyak.

In the Canggu of today, you’ll find enough to satisfy all your Bali desires – there’s an abundance of excellent coffee spots, its numerous first-rate cafes make it quite the ‘brunch’ destination, plus there’s fabulous restaurants offering cuisines from around the globe, sophisticated speakeasy bars, to chilled beach clubs and high-quality day spas. Much of the action revolves around Batu Bolong, though the Canggu area is quite spread out, so arrange a driver or download Gojek (a local Uber style service) to help with exploring.

And whilst Canggu is not yet as busy as other parts of Bali, its growing popularity means that the traffic getting into the area can be quite horrendous, though once you are there it’s not so frantic. And the pace of development means construction disruption and noise may be an annoyance at times.

Travis’ Canggu guide spills into the neighbouring busy district of Berawa and the emerging beach locale of Pererenan, where the languid pace is a notch below Canggu’s and there’s quite the brunch scene to be enjoyed.

After you’ve discovered Canggu, check out Travis’ guide to Bali’s other popular hotspot, Seminyak.

Quick Coffee Stops…

BGS Bali | Jl. Munduk Catu 1

Now twice the size after moving next door from its original digs, BGS remains one of Canggu’s most popular coffee spots. The new spacious deck, ringed by greenery, makes it ideal for a morning caffeine hit or afternoon hangout (with an Island Brewing beer). Surfers and wannabes mingle among racks of boards, accessories, and casual coastal gear. BGS Bali

Blacklist Coffee Roasters | Jl. Tanah Barak 6

Originally established in Perth, the Canggu outpost of this roaster is a flash looking place, with a concrete and black industrial-chic interior and a window peering into the roastery. In addition to the usual coffee varieties, they offer pour-overs and beans to take home, plus a small selection of pastries. There’s also a second outlet on Jl. Pantai Batu. Blacklist Coffee Roasters

GigiSusu | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 80

A literal hole-in-the-wall, this rustic though very trendy little spot serves fabulous coffee and delectable, flaky croissants and pastries. If you get there early enough (they open at 6am), the pastries might be warm and fresh from the oven, making them even more tempting. They’ve also added a full café next door, which has achieved a cult-like status, so expect to stand in line if you intend to dine in at the cafe. GigiSusu

Revolver Canggu Window | Jl. Nelayan 5

Seminyak’s queen of caffeine has spread their wings to Canggu, offering the same top-notch coffee from a grab it and go style window – there’s a sunny porch to sit and linger on if you must, and if it’s the full service with food you’re after, there’s a spacious cafe tucked away behind the coffee stand. Revolver Canggu Window

St Ali Bali | Jl. Pantai Pererenan

St Ali Bali brings Melbourne’s coffee legend to paradise. Expect flawless brews, and if you’re hungry St Ali classics like corn fritters and chilli scrambled eggs. The earthy, terrazzo-lined space, with inside or porch seating, is effortlessly cool. Open from 6am, it’s perfect for early risers and the jet-lagged. St Ali Bali

Hungry Bird Coffee Roaster | Jl. Raya Semat (Jl Perancak) 86, Berewa

A cosy café with retro-rustic style and roasting their own beans out back, this very expat-friendly place offers a simple café menu, and whilst the food isn’t anything to complain about, it’s really the coffee that you’re coming here for. They serve some of the better coffee you’ll find in Canggu – even though there’s plenty of competition around these days. Hungry Bird Coffee Roaster

Breakfast & Brunch…

Two Face | Jl. Munduk Catu 9

Two Face nails easy-going breakfast dining with six solid options on offer for 60k; think eggs your way, pancakes, or a simple bacon and egg roll – plus standout picks from the broader menu like parmesan crispy eggs on tortilla or a zingy smashed avocado. Excellent coffee, refreshing fresh juices and a leafy open-air terrace make it a relaxed, lively spot to start your day. Two Face

Crate Café | Jl. Canggu Padang Linjong 49

Tucked away off the main thoroughfare into Canggu, the local hipsters love Crate, evidenced by the lengthy lines at the counter to order during peak times. But the service is quick and the open-air warehouse space has plenty of seating areas (with communal tables, lounges and furniture made from recycled crates of course). The food is consistently fresh and good, with a long menu offering traditional breakfast favourites, toasties, bowls and smoothies, plus pretty decent coffee. Note: Crate will be moving to Perenenan in 2026. Crate Cafe

Sensorium | Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan

This rather smart looking café has a minimalist Scandi-meets-Bali aesthetic, with natural light flooding in through the floor to ceiling windows on both sides of the dining room. The menu is not for everyone, as you’ll need to be a little adventurous to really appreciate the ‘Australian brunch with an Asian twist’ fare – it’s very creative, with a complex set of ingredients in every dish, and not surprisingly the intricate presentation is very ‘insta-worthy’. So if you are looking for a lot more than a simple brunch, you’ll enjoy the food here, but if eggs on toast are your go, you’ll be happier somewhere else. Sensorium

Shady Shack | Jl. Tanah Barak 53

Your go-to place in Canggu for a hearty and healthy vegetarian brunch – the large menu covers all desires, though the bowls are the standouts, and there’s plenty of vegan options too.  As the name suggests, it’s a beautifully restored shack with a pleasant wrap-around porch, as well as a leafy garden terrace area to dine in. Shady Shack

Warung Varuna | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 89x

Warung Varuna keeps tradition alive in Canggu offering homestyle Indonesian fare. Start with a plate of white, brown or yellow rice, then ask them to pile on your picks from around 30 dishes; with ample curries, noodles, fritters and veggies to choose from. Best at lunch, it’s tasty, filling, and incredible value – a generous plate of hearty local fare for under 70k.

Openhouse | Jl. Munduk Tengah 9, Pererenan

Openhouse is a buzzing café with a shady porch, jungle theme, and breezy tunes that set a relaxed Bali mood. The menu blends Asian and continental flavours, think harissa butter Turkish eggs, truffled mushroom toast, and a killer brekky burrito. Build-your-own plates are a hit, portions are generous, and the digital nomad crowd keeps the place lively and social. Openhouse

Touche | Jl. Pantai Pererenan 104, Pererenan

This petite street-side cafe with a mostly white interior attracts a smart looking crowd of expats and visitors who know they’ll get a good coffee and enticing brunch fare. It’s all in the detail here, the Instagram worthy food comes on equally as polished crockery, with fancy cutlery too. There’s also a tempting pastry selection if a sugar hit is more your desire. Touche

Honey, | Jl. Pantai Pererenan 132, Pererenan

Another stylish café in the emerging Pererenan precinct, Honey offers a calm oasis with cool white interiors and the air-conditioned dining room a quiet place to dine in or catch up on some work – the alfresco terrace is a little noisier. The extensive menu offers choices of sweet or savoury breakfast / brunch options, as lunchtime kicks in there’s sandwiches and burgers added to the mix. Honey,

Nude | Jl. Pantai Berawa 33, Berewa

A simple but polished indoor/outdoor space, with a calm and unpretentious air. The menu features classic café fare, there’s a healthy focus but more than a few naughtier dishes, so it’s by no means purely a health food haunt. The coffee is really fabulous too. Nude

Lunch & Dinner…

YUKI | Jl. Pura Dalem

This chic beachside bolt-hole is housed in a breezy open-air pavilion, with a minimalist yet polished interior. The dining tables offer communal dining, or there’s a low set bar where you can dine whilst watching the skilled bar tenders and sushi chefs at work. All your desired Japanese staples are on the menu, starting with melt-in-the-mouth sushi and sashimi, succulent yakitori skewers and delicious morsels cooked on the charcoal grill. The chef’s selection menu is very generous and the cocktail list is as equally well thought out as the food menu, so you won’t go thirsty. YUKI

Home by Chef Wayan | Jl. Pantai Pererenan 92, Pererenan

Home lives up to its name – warm, inviting, and effortlessly stylish. The intimate dining room and leafy front porch set a relaxed tone, the service is warm yet efficient and the no-fuss cocktails as refreshing as can be. The broad, well-priced menu delivers generous portions with clean, refined presentation. From snacks to sate to mains, it’s a hit parade of Indonesian classics. The beef rendang and sates are exceptionally tender, the babi guling bao is a standout too. There’s a quiet confidence here; understated, yet absolutely wonderful. Home by Chef Wayan

Shelter Bali | Jl. Pantai Pererenan 133, Pererenan

Shelter is a sizable venue with indoor and outdoor spaces and green foliage in between the different dining zones with a canopy of trees above, so it feels more intimate and romantic that you’d imagine. The wood fire oven is used to its maximum potential here, with the premium ingredients often receiving just a lick of fire before the harmonious kitchen team add a few garnishes and send them off to eager diners. The Middle Eastern and Mediterranean style fare is so good it’s verging on titillating, even the dips will wow you, and the menu is extensive enough that it certainly warrants multiple visits. At lunchtime it’s a lighter and more casual selection with salads, flatbreads and skewers leading the choices. Seamless service and a well-rounded wine list only add to the allure. Shelter

Numero Quattro | Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan 4

The team behind Sisterfields and The Lawn are continuing to expand their empire in Canggu, with this retro-chic Italian diner the latest hit in their repertoire. There’s a Palm Springs house party vibe going on here, with rather fancy 70’s décor (yes, it’s a thing!) and a DJ spinning vinyl, a cosy collection of tables plus bar seating that looks into the open kitchen. They keep the food simple, there’s restraint with a touch of elegance to every dish, whether it’s the wonderful focaccia, tasty bites to start with, sides like a cucumber salad or a handmade pasta with just a handful of ingredients in the sauce. There’s five signature Negroni’s to get your night started and an impressive, if slightly pricey, wine list. The food prices are very reasonable though. Numero Quattro

MASONRY. | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 39a

MASONRY. features a long open bar and kitchen with communal seating, with over-sized windows and doors that blends the dining space into a leafy courtyard, which is definitely the spot to be on a fine day or night. Everything on the Mediterranean menu here is made in house, starters focus on house-made cured meats (don’t go past the mortadella) and tasty treats like luscious haloumi or salt snapper croquettes. The main menu centres around the wood fired oven; simple Mediterranean inspired dishes like lamb shoulder and roast chicken are cooked oh so perfectly, with a lovely choice of tasty side dishes – and leave space for dessert, especially the wood fired bread pudding. It’s very tasty, drinking friendly share food and easily one of Canggu’s best dining experiences. A gorgeous cocktail list and international wine selection add to the allure. MASONRY.

SKOOL Kitchen | Jl. Pura Dalem

Above The Lawn beach club, SKOOL delivers the same polish as sister venues such as Numero Quattro, but with its own flame-driven twist. The compact, stylish retro space, complete with terrace ocean views and bar seating, sets the mood. Every dish is touched by fire in some way, from standout Papuan prawns to Wagyu done three ways. Portions are delicate, sides inventive, and the Euro-leaning menu and wine list make it a delicious, choose-your-own-adventure experience. SKOOL Kitchen

Bar Vera | Jl. Pantai Pererenan 84, Pererenan

By the same uber-talented team as MASONRY., Vera serves decadent Parisian inspired fare with broader Mediterranean influences also incorporated into the delicately balanced menu. The menu offers enough variety without being too long, though the five-course chef’s selection option is an ideal way to taste all the greatest hits, starting with bite-size canape style delights, moving onto heavier dishes and ending with a decadent banoffee souffle for dessert. The wine list highlights the diversity of European wines and it’s helpfully listed by country and in order of lighter to more structured varieties. The dining room is dark and earthy, it’s kept simple and elegant and the buzz of the open kitchen and other satisfied diners mutes the passing traffic noise. And the service is outstanding. Bar Vera

Longtime | Jl. Pantai Berawa 13, Berawa

Longtime, in the heart of lively Berawa, comes from the team behind Bali favourite Milk & Madu. The striking space comes with soaring ceilings, sexy lighting, and a cool DJ vibe, setting the tone for contemporary pan-Asian dining done oh-so-right. The menu spans small bites to noodles and rice plates, all fresh and full of flavour. Don’t miss the braised short ribs or the standout desserts. With fun tropical cocktails and natural wines, it’s effortlessly stylish yet relaxed. Longtime

Billy Ho | Pantai Batu Bolong St

Billy’s offers modern Asian fare with an upbeat and vibrant edge, from the colourful décor to the groovy tunes, the bright young staff, killer cocktails and the mostly superb food. The menu is quite extensive, starting with sushi and yum cha sections, before moving onto a broad choice of pleasing small and large share plates. Not every dish is a complete hit, but enough of them hit the high points to make it tempting enough for a visit, and with a menu as large as this one, you could easily visit twice. Billy Ho

Milk & Madu Beach Road | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 92

A contemporary and breezy open pavilion with a stylish dining area and leafy rear garden, Milk & Madu is your go-to spot for relaxed all day dining, from breakfast through to dinner. The menu caters to all tastes, with hearty brunches, pasta, pizza, salads and mains from the woodfire grill – the food is fresh and consistently good quality. The service comes complete with big Balinese smiles, and with three venues around Bali, the Milk & Madu team clearly know how to deliver their specialty. Milk & Madu Beach Road

Drinks…

Mosto | Jl. Pantai Berawa 8, Berawa

Mosto is Bali’s go-to for good wine in a relaxed, contemporary setting. The cosy room with white walls, dark timber and open windows feels effortlessly cool. Expect a thoughtful list of mostly natural European wines with a few Aussie picks, plus a neat section of skin-contact options. Cocktails are just as strong, featuring refined classics and house creations. Tasty, shareable bites complete the picture. Mosto

Lacalita | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 68

A lively Mexican cantina with mid-century flair, colourful art, and detailed timber finishes, it’s as good for dinner as it is for casual drinks, with complimentary chips and dips to start. The margarita list shines, alongside other Mexican favourites like palomas, plus all the timeless cocktails you’d want. All this is set to a fun retro soundtrack that keeps the mood easy and upbeat. Lacalita

Motel Mexicola | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 117X

The Mexicola team’s long-standing Seminyak venue brought a colourful and kitsch brand of Latin hospitality to Bali and now they’ve successfully brough the same upbeat vibe to their second outlet. Fittingly, Margarita’s command their own section on the drinks list, and there’s an extensive range of Tequila as well. It’s easy to get lost in the drinks here, but the food is quite good too, the menu features snack size, light and zingy goodies like ceviche, tacos, tostados and ensaladas, with meats slow-cooked in the pib (earth oven) a notable feature. Motel Mexicola

Luigi’s Hot Pizza | Jl. Batu Mejan

Disco pizzeria is the most apt way to describe Luigi’s. This loud, brash garden bar dishes up delicious thin style Neapolitan style pizza cooked in a wood fired oven, other yummy Italian snacks and drinks that will knock your socks off – and if the drinks don’t, the pumping music by their DJ’s might. Some nights are more energetic here than others, but you’ll still have a good time no matter the night or the pace. Luigi’s Hot Pizza

Old Man’s | Jl. Batu Bolong Beachfront

A super laid back alfresco beach bar (though not right on the beach) that’s named after the local surf break, it’s got a bright, funky fit out and OK (but not great) food. It’s the perfect spot for a lazy lunch and an afternoon of sinking Bintang’s by the long neck with the surfy crowd, at night there’s often live music and the atmosphere amps up a few notches. Old Man’s

Segno Bali | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 91

A true hidden gem, there’s no signage, a plain black door and a stairway that leads to this opulent and glamourous bar that elevates the art of cocktail making to a new level for Bali. The long bar has deep leather armchairs to slink into, where the bow-tied team take their cocktail making very seriously, using handcrafted cut ice in creations from a menu divided into three sections (plus there’s all the classics available if that’s what you want). There’s also a short wine list of premium international wines and snack fare from Luma restaurant, which is just downstairs from Segno. Segno Bali

Cloak & Dagger | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 944R+MXC

The mystery starts with trying to find this ingenious cocktail bar, the entry is through an obscure doorway inside a ramen shop. The diminutive room only seats around 25 drinkers, and it’s decked out from top to toe with their murder mystery theme, which also extends to the cocktail list. Speaking of cocktails, they are almost works of art, though art that must be drunk and thoroughly enjoyed. And if you have trouble deciding what you want, share your likes and dislikes with the perfectly amicable bar team and they’ll create something just for you. Cloak & Dagger doesn’t accept walk-ins, so find them on Instagram and send a message to make a reservation. Cloak & Dagger

Black Sand Brewery | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong

A pleasant alternative to the multitude of beach bars in Canggu, Black Sand has its own onsite brewery where they craft unfiltered and unpasteurised brews, with five of their regular beers available on tap, plus a rotating selection of limited batch brews. Non beer drinkers are catered for with a small cocktail and wine list, and there’s very decent drinking-friendly food such as burgers, nachos and pizzetas. The bar and brewery is housed in a large, open air warehouse style building, plus there’s a large beer garden at the rear, where they have live DJ’s playing some nights. Black Sand Brewery

Sunset Point Bar | Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan

Sunset Point Bar is all about easygoing vibes and classic cocktails, think sex on the beach, daiquiris, and piña coladas. The short wine list spans Australia, New Zealand, and Chile, with local beers and Bintang flowing. Expect picnic tables, sea breezes, and live sunset tunes in a covered, open-air setting. Nothing fancy, just great value and the perfect spot to soak up one of Canggu’s signature sunset moments.

Beach Clubs…

La Brisa | Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan

Canggu is home to a number of good beach clubs, but this Robinson Crusoe style one is by far the best. A sprawling multi-level complex, it’s cleverly designed so you don’t realise how big it is, with lots of little nooks and crannies to relax in, plus a couple of pools for a refreshing dip. There’s plenty of shady spots, so it’s not just for sun worshippers and it also benefits from a refreshing ocean breeze. The food menu is broad and of more than decent quality, the cocktails flow easily and the tunes are chilled. It’s a very popular sunset drinks location, so get there early to secure the best sunset vantage point and be prepared to agree to a minimum spend that varies depending on where you are seated (or to avoid the crowds, go for lunch when the pace is a lot more languid!). La Brisa

The Lawn | Jl. Pura Dalem

Unlike some of the bigger and brasher beach clubs, The Lawn strikes a nice balance between intimacy, style and substance. After a recent renovation, the snazzy terrace area offers the option of comfy daybeds or deep sofas to laze about in, and there’s an under-cover bar and dining area with plenty of tables and chairs. There’s a moderate sized pool and the location is absolute beachfront, so the sunsets (with DJ’s spinning jazzy tunes) are an ideal time to linger here. This is more laid-back than the bigger beach clubs, so it usually attracts a more refined crowd! Upstairs is a fancy-pants restaurant, SKOOL Kitchen. The Lawn

Times Beach Warung | Jl. Pura Dalem

By the same team as The Lawn (which is just next door), Times is just as smart, though a little more understated and the action happens right on the beach, with an array of chic bean bags and beach umbrellas scattered across the sand. There’s also a compact pavilion that houses a bar and stylish lounge area, plus a coffee stand on the street-front for a quick caffeine fix. The menu stretches from breakfast to dinner, offering a well-versed selection of very good quality fare which is ideal for a day by the beach. Times Beach Warung

Day Spas…

ESpace Spa | Jl. Batu Mejan Canggu

This lovely spa flies somewhat under the radar, from the street there’s only a glimpse of the serene and polished treatment area, with calming white walls and floor, offset by vibrant paintings and a collection of cane pendant lights adding a touch of artistry. The therapists are extremely well trained by a master trainer with over thirty years experience, so you can be assured a thorough and engaging treatment, no matter what you choose from the menu. ESpace Spa

Tonic Day Spa & Botanicals | Jl. Batu Mejan

If it were not for the friendly Indonesian staff, you might think you have entered a cool oasis in Palm Springs, given the mid-century design of this serene space, with dusty pink and lime accents and a sunny courtyard complete with pink flamingo figurines. The menu is extensive, the treatments are fabulous (the Indian Head Massage is a standout), and the small touches like a pre and post treatment drink and cool towels on arrival elevate Tonic to a level above many other day spas. With only ten treatment rooms, it’s a calmer space than the bigger spas like Amo and Spring. Tonic

Beach House by Tonic | Jl. Canggu Padang Linjong 86

The second outlet by Tonic is bigger by far, but still radiates calm. Step through the large timber doors and you’re greeted by a soothing aroma and serene atmosphere. Timber accents, cane lights and white stone floors create a pristine oasis. With the same attention to detail that the original Tonic excels as, treatments range from firm Balinese massages to more intricate, deeply restorative rituals. Beach House by Tonic

Amo Spa | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 69

A cavernous warehouse space over two-levels, with rustic exposed brickwork offset by pretty chandeliers. The ground floor lobby and cafe is usually rather busy, but the upstairs lounge area offers a much quieter relaxation space before and after your treatments. The treatments are a step above most Bali spas, their pedicure and manicures are especially good, and the cooling cucumber facial mask you receive towards the end of a massage is a highlight.  After your treatment, spend some time in their Bathhouse Retreat where there’s a sauna, steam room, a selection of cold and hot tubs, plus a pool deck to sprawl out on. Amo Spa

Spring | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 83C

With outposts around Bail (and New Zealand), Spring has become something of a spa empire – this serene retreat offers understated tropical style, neutral colours, lush greenery and a pleasant water feature in the long central courtyard. With attentive staff and treatments that are generally fabulous, it’s worth paying a little extra for the spring experience (there are much cheaper spa’s in Bali, but why bother really!). Spring

Therapy Day Spa | Jl. Pantai Pererenan 99, Pererenan

Therapy, now moved from its original Canggu location, is a quiet haven tucked away on the second floor, the perfect escape from the outside world. Earthy walls and low lighting set a calm tone. Every 90-minute treatment begins with a soothing foot ritual. The Balinese massage feels less like a service and more like a ‘healing act’, it’s deeply rejuvenating. Therapy Day Spa

Things To Do…

Hotel Tugu Bali Cooking Class | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 117X

Hotel Tugu has been around since long before Canggu became hip, and whilst it’s a little tired today, their cooking classes held in an open-air pavilion in the hotel’s leafy gardens are a highlight. The classes start with your friendly instructor explaining the various local ingredients you’ll be using, then moving onto initial preparation work for around five dishes. The hands-on element of the classes is just enough to feel like you’re contributing to the creation of some delicious food, whilst not requiring too much hard work. Even amateur cooks will enjoy this experience, with one of the take-outs being that Indonesian fare is not especially complex to prepare, it just requires a solid array of ingredients. And the best part is that you get to enjoy the food you’ve prepared for lunch. Hotel Tugu Bali Cooking Class

The Practice | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 94

Canggu has long been a hub for yoga studios and whilst there are ample options to choose from, The Practice is one of the best – known for its impressively experienced international teachers and a wonderful setting. Despite being located just off busy Batu Bolong, it’s a surprising oasis of peace and calm – the main studio is located on the second floor of the complex, with a domed bamboo ceiling and a gentle breeze blowing through the space. Offering Traditional Hatha Yoga, the classes range from beginner to more advanced, with different styles available on the extensive schedule. No bookings are required, just turn up fifteen minutes before a class, and get your yogi on. The Practice

Where to Stay…

Canggu has a large variety of accommodation, with some old-school Losmen (home-stays and guest houses) still around, plenty of private villas and a more contemporary collection of main-stream hotels from mid-scale to luxury. We recommend basing yourself near Echo Beach, which allows you to explore all parts of the district.

Aston Canggu Beach Resort | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 99

This mid-range hotel is a little bland in terms of design, but it offers good value and the location is one of the best in Canggu, just two minutes from the beach and a range of great beach clubs, bars and restaurants all within a short walk. Rooms are large and modern, though some are a little dark – and don’t expect anything in the way of views. The rooftop pool and bar is a highlight, a lovely spot to relax and watch the Canggu sunsets. Aston Canggu Beach Resort

Eastin Ashta Resort | Jl. Munduk Catu 8

The Eastin is a bright, modern 4-star stay just behind the Regent and minutes from the beach. Its 119 rooms all have balconies overlooking a neat garden strip, with layouts ranging from standard rooms to spacious one-bedroom suites. The sunny, family-friendly pool is a highlight, and guests enjoy easy access to a multitude of nearby cafés and eateries. A clean, comfortable choice with solid service and relaxed Bali vibes. Eastin Ashta Resort

COMO Uma Canggu | Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan

The COMO is located beachfront at Echo Beach, though only some rooms have absolute beach and ocean views. The rooms are extremely spacious, modern and with a dash of cool elegance. Avoid one of the room categories without a balcony and opt for a One-Bedroom Lagoon Pool Residence – although these don’t have ocean views, you can roll right off your terrace into the huge lagoon pool. Beachfront there is a smaller pool, plus the COMO Beach Club for all day dining and cocktails, and an excellent gym rounds out the facilities. COMO Uma Canggu

Regent Bali Canggu | Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong 93xx

A sprawling resort set among lush gardens with countless pools and multiple room types, including private villas – the seafront ones are the standout. The Regent Club adds exclusivity with its own pool and elevated service. Rooms feature elegant details like teak bathtubs, setting a new luxury benchmark for Canggu. Much larger than the Como, it’s got all the facilities expected of a luxury resort, including the Beach House restaurant, serving light, delicious fare by the pool and beach. Regent Bali Canggu

Villa Asante | Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan

Just a five-minute walk from Echo Beach, Villa Asante offers a rock star stay for up to eight friends (in four bedrooms). The bedrooms are private, spacious and two of them come with impressive indoor/outdoor bathrooms, but the communal areas are the real treat. Two separate open-air pavilions house a dining area and sitting room, with a huge pool and verdant gardens completing the picture. There’s a butler on hand at all times, and in-villa massages and dining can be arranged, so you may never want to leave the villa! Villa Assante

La Numa Villas CangguJl. Pantai Batu Mejan

These villas offer solid 4-star accommodation with spacious bedrooms, large bathrooms, and good-sized plunge pools. The relaxed outdoor living area adds to the charm, even if the décor could use a little polish. Tucked quietly down a long driveway, it’s peaceful yet just minutes from Echo Beach. With 14 one-, two-, and three-bedroom villas, it’s great value, offering more space, privacy, and comfort than nearby hotels. La Numa Villas Canggu
