Guide to Prague, The Czech Republic

One of the jewels of Eastern Europe, Prague is a must-visit destination for anyone travelling in the region, with its rich history intertwined with a vibrant modern energy, the city offers an irresistible charm that makes it both welcoming and endlessly compelling.

Begin your journey in Old Town (Stare Mesto), a labyrinth of cobblestone streets filled with history, stunning architecture, and bustling activity. While it’s a popular starting point for exploration—and understandably so—don’t let it be your final stop. From the iconic Charles Bridge to the majestic Prague Castle, the city’s famous landmarks are unmissable, but venturing beyond them reveals hidden gems in districts like Holesovice, Vinohrady and Mala Strana.

Prague invites you to walk its streets endlessly, uncovering serene parks, tucked-away gardens, and a lively café culture where coffee is king — although wine is often cheaper than coffee! Pair a glass of vino with local favorites like cured meats and cheeses in one of the city’s charming wine bars or work your way through the cocktail list at a collection of world-class bars.

Whether you’re soaking in the view from the quieter Mala Strana side of the river or delving into the stories of Old Town on a walking tour, Prague is a city that delights at every turn and rewards those who explore beyond the usual sights.

Travis’ Wish List…

Because there’s always more eating, dining and exploring than can be done in just one visit, Travis likes to keep a wish list so there’s an incentive to visit again!

Next time in Prague, we’d be starting the day with breakfast at either Misto, Vnitroblock or Etapa and for a quick and casual lunch, we’d be dropping by trendy butcher shop Nase Maso.

When it comes time for dinner, there are choices galore, such as Baraqa Georgian Cuisine, some modern Czech fare from Uvoz, relaxed Spanish at Lola, Vermut y Tapas, or something more creative from Field or Marie B.

For drinks, the night might start at Cloud 9 Sky Bar & Lounge (atop the Hilton), then progress onto Le Terroir, before ending with a nightcap at AnonymouS Bar.
