Seminyak offers an alluring mix of glitz and tropical style, with still a little dash of old-time Bali. Whilst there’s something for everyone in this popular beach resort area, if you are a keen foodie you will be delighted by the choice of dining options, with a diverse selection of restaurants that would not be out of place in some of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities.
Start your day with brunch in a fabulous cafe, hop between a multitude of day spas, shop up a storm, then spend a lazy afternoon at one of Bali’s cooler-than-thou beach clubs. As sunset looms, Seminyak comes alive with vibrant bars and stylish restaurants, with the party often going till very late.
The area around Jl. Petitenget on the northern side of Seminyak is a touch more upscale and tranquil than the southern section bordering Legian. Seminyak’s unplanned growth and tight, winding streets mean that traffic can be crippling in peak times, so although taxi’s are plentiful you should plan ahead and allow plenty of time to get around, or just walk whenever you can.
After you’ve discovered Seminyak, check out Travis’ guide to Bali’s other tropical hotspot, Canggu.

Just Coffee…
Baby Revs by Revolver | Jl. Petitenget 102
A cute little offshoot of the hugely popular Revolver Espresso, this tiny room only seats a handful of people but it’s a convenient spot to pick up a great quality takeaway coffee. Baby Revs by Revolver
Expat Coffee Roasters | Petitenget St 1A
A funky coffee spot with an industrial design, roasting their own beans from Bali and around the world, their coffee is spot on. They also serve a small selection of pastries and toasties. Expat Coffee Roasters
Tanamera Coffee | Jl. Petitenget 237
An Indonesian coffee brand born in 2013, Tanamera roasts its own beans and it shows in every cup – the coffee’s quality speaks for itself. The shop is modern and cool, with a little seating and a small lounge. Don’t miss the caramel cookies, they’re unexpectedly addictive. Tanamera Coffee
Shore Coffee | Jl. Kayu Aya
Tucked down the laneway beside Ku De Ta, Shore is a mellow, surfy hideaway. When heading into Ku De Ta, take the left turn for a quiet coffee with ocean glimpses. A great spot to think, chill on the porch, and sip genuinely good coffee away from the bustle of the main road. Shore Coffee
Breakfast & Brunch…
Sisterfields | Jl. Kayu Candana 7
With a bright, modern fitout and sunny front deck, Sisterfield’s food is a combination of classic and modern Australian style café fare, using locally sourced produce. The breakfast is up there with the best in Bali and their all-day brunch menu also offers great quality favourites like burgers, sandwiches and salads. It’s very popular (even after many years of being open) so there’s a good chance you’ll need to wait for a table, but the bright and bubbly team deliver service with aplomb. Sisterfields
Revolver Seminyak | Jl. Kayu Aya, Gang 51
Revolver’s arrival in Seminyak in 2012 heralded a new caffeine movement in Bali, and their formula has proven so popular that sister venues have popped up in Seminyak, Canggu and at the airport. At the original location – hidden down a small laneway and behind heavy timber doors – step inside and you could be in one of inner city Sydney or Melbourne’s cool hipster cafes. It’s not just exceptional coffee though, as they serve a really yummy breakfast too. Revolver Seminyak
La Lucciola | Jl. Kayu Aya Beach
One of Seminyak’s pioneering upmarket eateries, La Lucciola is the grand old lady that’s still as elegant as ever. The beachfront locale reveals a large open air pavilion with rattan furniture and manicured lawns leading right to the beach, making for a fabulously peaceful meal. The dining offers wholesome Italian/Mediterranean food – prepared simply but perfectly, with seamless service to match. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a long brunch at La Lucciola is a favourite pastime for many regular Bali visitors. La Lucciola
Biku | Jl. Taman Ganesha, Gg. Bina 888
A charming restaurant and tea house with an eclectic vibe, tarot card readings and a gift shop are included in the offering here. Offering a rather broad dining menu of both Indonesian and Western favourites – the Nasi Goreng is excellent, and their breakfast menu is quite interesting with a high tea style breakfast if you really want to eat up. The Asian Afternoon High Tea is also lovely, a selection of usual high tea fare with some Asian delicacies added to the mix. Biku
Prior Café | Jl. Petitenget
Prior is a relaxed, under-the-radar breakfast spot with subtle Japanese and Indonesian twists in the menu – think miso Benedict, umami scrambled eggs, and a rendang wrap (plus two other breakfast wraps to choose from). The folded eggs are especially good. A shady porch and calm, uncluttered dining room make it ideal for slow mornings and quiet conversation. A generous selection of sides and unhurried service complete the charm. Prior Cafe
Livingstone | Petitenget St 88X
Livingstone is a reliable local café chain known for quality food, good coffee, and friendly service. The high-ceilinged space with exposed brick and concrete has a relaxed buzz, plus a leafy patio. Expect generous Western breakfasts, a few Indonesian dishes, great fresh juice, and an array of bakery items. A no-fuss, consistent spot to start your day right. Livingstone
Lunch & Dinner…
Mamasan Bali | Jl. Raya Kerobokan 135
Set in a two-story warehouse with high ceilings and a wonderfully eclectic colonial Shanghai fitout, after over a decade of feeding delighted diners, the ground floor dining room was refreshed and expanded in 2023, revealing Mamasan2.0 as a more grown up and luxe venue, with elegant banquette seating and a swish bar. The fabulous pan Asian food takes you on a culinary trip around the continent, with a menu stretching to over sixty items, so making choices can be difficult! The dim sum selection is a great place to start, and you’ll find an over abundance of seafood items to choose from. The bar team excels as much as the culinary team, creating really wonderful and inventive cocktails with tropical ingredients. Mamasan Bali
Barbacoa | Jl. Petitenget 14
Barbacoa is housed in an expansive warehouse style space, dark and moody with a beautifully intricate interior, there is also a leafy terrace overlooking a rice paddy out the back. Serving excellent South American food – the focus is on succulent meats so it’s a vegetarians perfect nightmare, though they do some incredible things with the vegetable side dishes. It’s hard to fault any of the dishes, though the meats cooked over coals, such as the asado pork, are the definite standouts. Lovely desserts, sharp cocktails and a solid wine list and service top it all off. Barbacoa
Bambu | Jl. Petitenget 198
From the same owners as nearby La Lucciola, the setting is absolutely stunning, a spacious and ornate open-air pavilion with a peaceful water feature running around the dining area. The food is a blend of traditional and modern Indonesian and it’s simply beautiful, every dish is delicately presented, bursting with flavour and hitting the mark perfectly. Like La Lucciola, this is an elegant experience, there’s no loud music, just the hum of good conversation with lovely and refined service. Only open for dinner. Bambu
Merah Putih | Jl. Petitenget 100X
The dramatic dining room will take your breath away, a grand and impressive space with 10-metre soaring ceilings and fully grown palm trees lining the perimeter. But the food lives up to the setting, the menu features modern Indonesian fare across a series of small and large share dishes. There’s a lot of detail and thought put into every dish, and the result is a wonderful culinary journey through Indonesia. They also have a walk-in wine room, with an extensive wine list. The service is elegant yet warm. Merah Putih
Kajin | Jl. Petitenget 98y
Kajin delivers classic sushi and sashimi with quiet confidence. The fish is fresh and melt-in-the-mouth good, complemented by standout prawn tempura and crisp chicken karaage. With just eight counter seats and two intimate dining rooms, it’s understated yet refined. The sake list shines, cocktails charm, and the simple décor – lit by hundreds of bulbs above the sushi counter – sets a calm, authentic mood. Downstairs is sister restaurant, Rajin Teppanyaki. Kajin
Chandi | Jl. Kayu Aya 72
Seminyak’s crowded ‘Eat Street’ offers a mixed bag of dining options, so it’s nice to find a gem like Chandi on this strip. With a menu that takes inspiration from across Asia, there’s crowd pleasing fare including dumplings, sate and a few interesting varieties of nasi goreng, plus grilled options. If you are visiting for lunch, the highlight definitely is feasting on the Rijstaffel Lunch – small servings of around ten classic Indo dishes… it’s delicious! Chandi
Amici | Jl. Petitenget 19x
Led by Michelin-starred chef Enrico Bartolini, Amici offers a long, balanced menu where Italian tradition meets modern flair. Antipasti, pizza, pasta, and a grill featuring six Wagyu cuts shine alongside seafood-focused dishes. The calm dining room, anchored by an open kitchen, pairs with a moody bar up front. Service is attentive, wines lean Italian, and prices reflect the refined yet relaxed experience. There’s also a secret door that provides direct entry to Iron Fairies for an after-dinner drink. Amici
Da Maria | Jl. Petitenget 170
Da Maria’s bright and expansive dining area comprises three semi-divided spaces, plus a very happening bar at the front. Serving wonderfully rustic and hearty Italian fare and pizza, the food is mostly sensational. The cocktail menu showcases a greatest hits selection – including a perfect Negroni, whilst the wine list is an interesting mix of predominantly Italian vino’s. The bar is open late and when the DJ gets going after dinner service (on selected nights only), it can become quite the party scene. Da Maria
Kilo Kitchen Seminyak | Jl. Drupadi 22
Kilo delivers comfort with style. Its broad international menu leans European and Italian, with a fun Mexican taco twist. Raw starters and lighter bites balance hearty, beautifully presented mains. Cocktails remix the classics, backed by European and South American wines. The concrete-and-glass space feels sleek yet warm, overlooking a lush courtyard. Upbeat tunes, great food, and relaxed energy mean it’s a longtime favourite. Kilo Kitchen Seminyak
Tanaman Restaurant | Jl. Petitenget 51B
Tanaman, tucked inside the Potato Head Suites, turns plant-based dining into an experience. The small, red-brick room glows best at night with low lights, timber tables, and views of lush gardens. The menu isn’t big but full of surprises: banana-ketchup fries, spice-battered spinach chips, and other inventive bites. Sip a spicy and bold cocktail or mocktail, whilst the small wine list features just enough choice across multiple countries. Fresh, creative, and full of character. Tanaman Restaurant
Drinks…
Sunset Park | Jl. Petitenget 51B
Perched on the third-floor of the Potato Head Suites, Sunset Park feels higher than it is, with surprising ocean views stretching all the way to the Uluwatu peninsula. The open-air terrace hums with groovy sunset tunes and an easygoing energy, with a long island bar to sit at and enjoy the vibe. Cocktails shine with local ingredients and creativity, matched by friendly, fuss-free service and a tidy menu of small bites. Best during the golden sunset hours, this refined, relaxed spot outshines the nearby Potato Head Beach Club. My top pick for Seminyak sunsets. Sunset Park
The Iron Fairies | Jl. Petitenget 19x
Tucked behind Amici restaurant, The Iron Fairies is a jaw-dropping industrial wonderland. Enter through a cave-like tunnel and emerge into a three-story fantasy filled with chains, pulleys, spinning wheels, and hundreds of bottles hanging from the ceiling. It’s anything but minimalist; part underground mine, part magic. There’s multiple bars, mezzanine levels, and live music and DJs nightly. A wild, imaginative space that gets livelier as the night goes on. The Iron Fairies
Motel Mexicola | Jl. Kayujati 9
Very tasty Mexican food and lovely cocktails, but the real star is the over-the-top décor and vibe. It’s a huge complex with plenty of different spaces to hang out in, including a large courtyard. The decor is very busy, with all sorts of Mexicana themed bric-a-brac splashed around the place, the service is upbeat and there is good music too. One of those places that it’s easy to have a very big night in when you really didn’t mean to. Motel Mexicola
Sea Circus | Jl. Kayu Aya 22
A funky and friendly little bar and diner, the broad menu spans Asian, European and Mexican influences but it’s best as a drinking and snacking venue in my eyes – the margaritas by the jug are one of the highlights on the drinks list… though they are dangerously easy to drink! Sea Circus
Neon Palms | Jl. Kayu Aya 22
A super cute and fun bar and balcony on the second floor of a clothing shop, the interiors are a nod to retro style, whilst the leafy balcony features bright murals and slow moving fans. The food and drinks menu has enough to please everyone, there’s a long list of cocktails to work your way through and the food is ideal to nibble on with drinks. Neon Palms
Warung Cantina | Jl. Pantai Batu Belig
Sometimes you need a reminder of the Bali of yesteryear, so a lazy afternoon sinking Bintang’s at this super friendly and laidback beachside warung is the place to get your nostalgia fix. There’s seaside tunes dating back to the 1930’s on the playlist, and excellent crinkle cut fries to snack on. It’s situated in a quieter part of Seminyak, yet still pretty close to Jl. Petitenget.
Beach Clubs…
Potato Head | Jl. Petitenget 51B
An enormous, somewhat over the top beach club, the architecture and design really makes a statement. There’s plenty of day beds (arrive early to book one though – and there is a minimum spend requirement on food & beverage), a large pool and a couple of bar and lounge areas, so it’s a good spot for an all day sunning, eating and drinking session. It’s very much a sunny day spot though, as when the weather turns there’s not enough space undercover to accommodate all the poolside crowd. Potato Head
KU DE TA | Jl. Kayu Aya 9
Bali’s original beach club, Ku De Ta is still standing proudly twenty-five years after it opened. It’s aged rather gracefully and whilst no longer the biggest or glitziest beach club, it’s retained a refined and sophisticated sense of style, whilst gently evolving with the times, such as the more recent addition of an infinity pool. The food menu is broad and covers all tastes. Chilled sunset drinks at KU DE TA should be on the agenda for every visit to Bali. KU DE TA
La Plancha | Jl. Mesari Beach
A little closer to Legian than I’d normally venture, but it’s worth it to hang out at this very cool beach club with a chilled-out vibe and colourful bean bags spread across the beach. They have DJ’s spinning tunes as the sun sets and hearty snack food. It is very popular though so when it’s busy, you might need to wait a while to grab a bean bag. La Plancha
Day Spas…
Jari Menari | Jl. Raya Basangkasa 21
Known as ‘dancing fingers’, Jari Menari’s ‘The Perfect Massage’ is an incredible 90-minute massage from their extremely well trained all male staff. They moved into a new modern sanctuary in 2025 but it comes with all the features of their original premises – the massage rooms open onto tranquil waterfalls, and their body washes and other products are a lovely to end the treatments. A little pricier than most spas but certainly one of the best massages in Bali, or anywhere else for that matter – I dare you to not doze off during your massage! Be sure to book ahead. Jari Menari
Spring Spa | Rooftop, Jl. Kayu Jati 8
With a commanding position on the rooftop of Seminyak Village, this spa ticks all the right boxes, stylish and modern décor with a cool and calm atmosphere that takes hold as soon as you walk in. The chillout area where you wait for your treatments has comfy daybeds and rubix cubes to keep you amused. The treatment rooms are spotless and comfortable. The treatments are all very good quality, provided by ultra professional staff. They also have sister spas in Canggu and Uluwatu. Spring Spa
Bodyworks Spa Bali | Jl. Lb. Sari Jl. Petitenget 3
Bodyworks has pioneered the Bali spa scene since 1994, but in 2020 they moved into a stunning new home. The expansive two-level complex is reminiscent of a Moorish palace, with public areas featuring pink walls and ornate chandeliers, and a serene reflection pond in the central courtyard. The treatment rooms are a contrast to the public spaces, with cool green stone floors and oversized bathtubs for a post massage soak. The therapists are all highly trained and provide thorough and professional massages. Bodyworks Spa Bali
Koya Spa | Jl. Petitenget 101A
Koya blends Japanese minimalism with Balinese warmth, with concrete walls, timber accents, and soft uplighting. The space is small and serene, with expert therapists delivering deeply relaxing massages. Choose from four oils and unwind with matcha or ginger tea after. The short and focused menu covers Balinese massages and Japanese bodywork, and targeted treatments like a head, neck & shoulders massage – all beautifully done. Koya Spa
Where to Stay…
Seminyak stretches for many miles, so choose your accommodation spot wisely to ensure you are located close to your reason for visiting, be it the beach, fabulous restaurants or shopping, as Seminyak’s traffic jams can mean a taxi ride from one side of the region to the other can take up to an hour at the wrong time of the day. Stay around Jl. Petitenget if it’s dining out that takes your interest. There are a huge amount of accommodation options to choose from, with large resorts, smaller boutique hotels, luxury villas and a wide selection of budget hotels all vying for your attention.
Alila Seminyak | Jalan Taman Ganesha 9
This modern and luxurious absolute oceanfront resort is the type of place you need never leave, yet some of Seminyak’s best restaurants and shopping are just a short stroll away when the mood takes you to explore. With three expansive pools and a swish bar right on the beachfront, the 240 overly spacious rooms offer plenty of choices from stunning ocean views to suites where you can easily roll off your terrace onto the beach. The decor is all cool, neutral tones and natural stone, whilst the walk in showers are as big as some budget hotel rooms! Alila Seminyak
The Legian Seminyak | Jl. Kayu Aya
The Legian remains one of Bali’s grand old dames of luxury, aging with remarkable grace. Its lush lawns sweep down to an oceanfront infinity pool lined with generous daybeds – there’s no sun-lounge battles here. The 66 extra-spacious suites all boast ocean views, with separate living areas and elegant teak-and-rattan décor elements. Every detail reflects timeless craftsmanship and cool, understated elegance. Meticulously maintained, The Legian embodies classic Bali sophistication at its best. The Legian Seminyak
Montigo Resorts Seminyak | Jl. Petitenget Seminyak
Montigo delivers great value in the heart of Seminyak and despite its central location, it stays surprisingly quiet. Rooms are extra spacious with modern decor, and there are three pools to unwind by. Friendly staff, a good gym and spa, and family-friendly vibes make it a solid mid-scale choice near many of Seminyak’s best dining spots – and it’s right next door to Potato Head. Montigo Resorts Seminyak
Cross Paasha Bali Seminyak | Jl. Laksmana 77
Ideally located on Seminyak’s ‘Eat Street’, you can walk out your door to convenient restaurants and shopping, though this is the more mainstream and busier part of Seminyak than some would prefer. The spacious rooms are quite modern and clean, though the rooms on the lower floors don’t offer very pleasant views. The huge rooftop pool and deck is a highlight. Cross Paasha Bali Seminyak
